Tender Mercies and the Power of Music

I have been a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I have been singing Primary Songs my whole life! And in all that time, I have never really listened to the words of "He Sent His Son".

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.

How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth that we may know.

How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.

What does the Father ask of us?
What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son,
Help others on their way.

What does he ask?
Live like his Son.

I never really noticed that this song was a question and answer about some of the most profound gospel principles. I am very grateful for a Heavenly Father who sacrificed his Son on my behalf.

I am very grateful that I can have moments where the Spirit teaches me a lesson that is profound and needed.

I love that primary song, too--such a perfect reminder of the most important gospel principles.
